SIE2002
Sabah International Business Conference (SIBC) was held on 18 September 2002. Its objectives were to promote trade and investment in Sabah; to promote tourism in Sabah and to revitalize BIMP-EAGA. A total of 355 delegates participated.

Sabah International Expo 2002 was held from 19 to 22 September 2002. The SIE2002 was very successful for the 94 Exhibitors who took up 129 booths at the Trade Expo. Spot sales worth RM388,860.00 were concluded during the four day Expo. Potential deals in the form of possible orders worth RM19,693,000.00 were also secured. Therefore total potential business deals worth RM20,081,860 were generated by exhibitors and trade visitors at SIE2002.

Feedback questionnaires from the exhibitors were very positive. 91% of the exhibitors commented that SIE2002 fulfilled their expectations. 89% of the exhibitors considered the exposition effective in presenting their products and services to the trade visitors and the public. Most of the exhibitors commented that the SIE2002 exceeded their expectations.

There were 40 foreign exhibition booths. Therefore SIE2002 was certified as an International Exposition by MATRADE. This enabled Malaysian exhibitors (SMIs) to be able to claim for a 50% rebate through MATRADE under the Market Development Grant (MDG).

Foreign trade visitors came from Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, China, Croatia, Germany, Ghana, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Singapore, Swaziland, Taiwan, Thailand and United Kingdom

There was strong international participation at the Exhibition with the 40 international booths from the following countries: Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Croatia, China, Germany, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Philippines, Poland, Singapore and United Kingdom.

The SIE2002 achieved its goal of creating a conducive business environment, which stimulated trade and investment opportunities in Sabah. The majority of the exhibitors reached their targeted customers, whether it was general consumers or trade and professional visitors.
